Filem dan Drama Cina Moden
Modern Chinese Film and Drama
Kursus ini memperkenalkan drama dan filem Cina moden sejak masa lahirnya sehingga masa sekarang. Penekanan adalah diberi
kepada analisis dan apresiasi teks-teks asal drama dan filem Cina moden dan kontemporari yang dihasilkan oleh penulis-penulis
drama seperti Lao She, Gao Xing-jian, Lai Sheng-chuan, serta filem-filem yang dihasilkan oleh Ang Lee, Wong Kar- wai, Tsai Ming-
liang, Sun Yu , Chu Yuan, Cai Chu-sheng, Wu Yong-gang dan Chen Kai-ge. Teori dan teknik analisis drama dan filem akan
diperkenalkan.
This course introduces modern Chinese film and drama from their early beginnings to the present day. Emphasis is given to the analysis
and appreciation of original modern and contemporary Chinese plays written by Lao She, Gao Xing-jian, Lai Sheng-chuan as well as
Chinese films directed by Ang Lee, Wong Karwai, Tsai Ming-liang, Sun Yu, Chu Yuan, Cai Chusheng, Wu Yong-gang and Chen Kai-ge.
Students will be taught theories and techniques on how to analyse film and dramaresponses and participation models. It also examines
how the local context shapes their identities and culture. Lastly, this course looks into the impact of globalization on the Southeast Asian

Kajian Masyarakat Cina Malaysia
Studies of Malaysian Chinese Communities
Kursus ini bertujuan untuk memberi pelajar- pelajar satu fahaman tentang pembentukan and perkembangan masyarakat Cina di
Malaysia. Tumpuan kursus difokuskan kepada kepelbagaian masyarakat Cina yang dinyatakan dalam bahasa, agama, pengalaman
ekonomi, proses lokalisasi dan sebagainya. Ia juga memberi tumpuan kepada sejarah adaptasi orang Cina dalam konteks tempatan
dan kesinambungan budaya Cina. Di samping itu, kursus ini juga membincangkan reaksi-reaksi orang Cina dalam perkembangan
sosio-politik yang terkini di Malaysia.
This course is a study of the Chinese society in Malaysia. It shows the diversity of Malaysian Chinese society and how it has been
expressed in their language, religion, economic experience, localization process, etc. It focuses on the history of adaptations of the
Chinese communities in local contexts and the continuity of Chinese culture. In addition, this course also discusses the varying responses
of Malaysian Chinese in the recent socio-political development in Malaysia.

Kebudayaan dan Masyarakat Cina di Asia Tenggara
Chinese Culture and Society in Southeast Asia
Kursus ini bertujuan untuk memberi kepada pelajar-pelajar satu fahaman umum tentang pengalaman sejarah, kebudayaan dan
masyarakat orang Cina di Asia Tenggara sejak abad ke-19. Ia bermula dengan menghuraikan sejarah penghijrahan, penetapan dan
perkembangan masyarakat Cina sebelum kemerdekaan negara-negara Asia Tenggara. Bahagian kedua mengkaji peranan orang Cina
dalam politik dan ekonomi terkini di Asia Tenggara termasuk reaksi dan model penyertaan mereka terhadap keadaan yang dialami.
Kursus ini juga peranan konteks tempatan dalam pembentukan identiti dan kebudayaan Cina masing-masing. Di samping itu, kursus ini
akan mengkaji pengaruh globalisasi ke atas masyarakat Cina di Asia Tenggara.
This course is an introduction to the historical, social and cultural experiences of the ethnic Chinese in Southeast Asia over the last two
centuries. It begins with the patterns of early migration, settlement and evolution of Chinese communities before the formation of new
