Candidate is required to keep his/her candidature updated by registering on a
continuous basis with the University. Failure to do so would result in
termination of their candidature. The University Senate has the right to terminate
the registration of a candidate if in the opinion of the Senate the candidate for any
academic reason is not able to continue his programme of study.
Candidate who is following the coursework programmes need to renew his/her
candidature within the first two weeks of every semester whereas candidate who
is following the research programmes need to renew his/her candidature not
later than the seventh week from the commencement of every semester.
Registration of Courses
Registration of courses needs to be completed within two weeks from the
commencement of the semester. Candidate is allowed to drop any registered
courses within the stipulated period as mentioned below:
(1) Within the first two weeks, course fees will not be charged;
(2) After the second week but before the seventh week, course fees will be
charged accordingly.
Candidate is not allowed to drop any registered courses after the seventh week of
the semester.
Conversion from Master’s to Doctorate
Candidate who is following the Master’s degree programme by research may
apply to convert his/her Master’s candidature to Doctorate candidature.
However, he/she has to complete at least twelve months but not more than
fifteen months of his/her Master’s degree programme of study at the time of
his/her application for conversion.
The candidate is required to—
(1) Make a written application within twelve (12) to fifteen (15) months of
candidature to the Dean of the faculty together with the following:
(a) A written report not exceeding 6,000 words regarding:
(i) Introduction and scope of the research;
(ii) Objective of the research;
(iii) Research methodology;
(iv) Research output that has been generated for the last twelve to fifteen
months including the production of:
