Course Title SPORT AND LIFESTYLE

Course Learning At the end of the course, students are able to:
Outcomes 1. Explain the basic concepts of sports and lifestyle identify how
they relate to, and complement each other
2. Analyze the influence of sports on the formation of active
lifestyles – the influence of high-performance sports, mass
sports, recreational sports, outdoor activities and fitness will be
explored in the context of lifestyle
3. Evaluate and discuss elements of sport and its association to
sport culture domains i.e., participation, passionate,
volunteerism, expenditure and facilities
Synopsis Sports and lifestyles have strong relationships and complement
each other. Sports generally promote an active lifestyle despite
having a passive lifestyle in certain sports activities such as e-
sports, chess and some indoor games. The conflict between the
benefits and disadvantages of this sporting lifestyle should be
understood by the community and should be explained by sports
administrators and leaders. For fitness and health purposes, the
emphasis is more on the influence of sports on the formation of an
active lifestyle. High performance sports, mass sports, recreational
sports, outdoor activities and fitness are five categories of sports
that will be discussed the context of lifestyle. Elements of sports
such as nutrition, mental preparation, risk and safety are also given
attention. The sports lifestyle is a dynamic culture, not only involving
the domain of engagement, but including the domains of sports
enthusiast, volunteerism, expenditure and facilities
