At the end of the course, students are able to:

1 Menghuraikan ilmu usul al-tafsir, sejarah perkembangan dan jenis-jenisnya.
Describe the science of usul al-tafsir, its history of development and its types.
2 Mengenal pasti manhaj tafsir bi al-ma’thur dan manhaj tafsir bi al-ra'y serta karya berkaitan.
Identify the methods of tafsir al-ma’thur and tafsir al-ra’y and related references.
3 Menjelaskan manhaj tafsir al-isyari, tafsir al-fiqhi, dan tafsir al-‘ilmi berdasarkan pandangan
para ulama serta karya berkaitan.
Explain the methods of tafsir al-isyari, tafsiral-fiqhi and tafsiral-`ilmi based on scholar’s views
and related references.
Sinopsis Kandungan Kursus / Synopsis of Course Content
Kursus ini memperkenalkan asas-asas ilmu Usul al-Tafsir, sejarah perkembangannya serta manhaj-
manhaj penafsiran. Fokus utama kursus ini berkaitan dengan manhaj utama tafsir iaitu manhajal-
Ma'thur, manhaj al-Ra'y, manhaj al-Isyari, manhaj al-Fiqhi dan manhaj al-‘Ilmi. Beberapa karya
berkaitan serta pandangan ulama dipilih sebagai bahan perbincangan.

This course will introduce the science of Usul al-Tafsir, its history of development and the methods
of interpretation. The course mainly focuses on the methods of Tafsir al-Ma’thur, Tafsir al-Ra’y,Tafsir
al-Isyari,Tafsir al-Fiqhi and Tafsir al-‘Ilmi. The Course also describes related references and scholars'
views which are selected as materials of discussion.
