Why did you choose this course?
One of the reasons why I chose Bachelor of Science in
Statistics is because I have always loved mathematics
since I was in high school and matriculations. But later, I
learned that statistics also has the power to extract
information from any kind of data set. Statistics is very
well connected to all branches of science. If you have
data, you need statistics and if you have uncertainty,

A deeper understanding of the courses such as probability theory, probability and statistics in the
programme helped me to have a better understanding when applying the knowledge in data
analysis.
The critical thinking and analytical skills that I developed from the Bachelor of Science in Statistics
programme and vast experiences on hands-on practice with statistical software during my studies
helped me to land my first job as a data analyst after I graduated.

Why did you choose this course?
Mathematics has been my favourite subject since I was in
school. Over the schooling years, I was very interested in
how Statistics (a branch of Mathematics) visualises
collected data into valuable insights. That is why I chose
the Bachelor of Science in Statistics programme in
Universiti Malaya for my tertiary education. I am now
working in an office that deals with data for institutions Penolong Pendaftar, Corporate Data
rankings. It involves collecting, analysing and producing Office under AVC CS
insights, as well making decisions.
My studies in the Bachelor of Science in Statistics had prepared me well to contribute
significantly in my current job. The highlight of the programme was the data analysis and data
mining courses, where I learned how to use various statistical softwares to carry out analyses in
most projects and assignments. Acquiring these computing skills from the programme really
helped me in performing my job now.
