Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
General Information Mode of Study
The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) is the highest degree awarded by the Research
University.
It requires the conduct of an original research project, writing and Duration of Study
defense of a thesis.
Admission Requirements *Minimum: 4 Semesters
*Maximum: 12 Semesters
To be admitted to a Doctorate ‘s programme, applicants are required to
have a completed and recognized degree in a relevant discipline and to
have obtained a better than average cumulative grade point average Programme Structure
(CGPA).
The PhD degree is offered by research mode only leading to the submission
The minimum requirements for admission into the PhD programme are : of a thesis.
a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field; and Candidates are required to take Advanced Research Methodology course
a Master’s degree in the relevant field; or during the first year of studies.
Other qualifications approved by the University Senate.
Applicant having a Bachelor’s degree with a CGPA of 3.7 and above, may Intake
also be considered for direct admission to the PhD programme.
International applicants are required to have: Application and admission are open throughout the year.
At least IELTS Band 5 (Academic) or TOEFL score of 550 (paper based) /
213 (computer based) / 80 (Internet based) if their first degree is from *Note
a university where English is not the medium of instruction. The minimum and maximum duration of a programme of study according to the mode of study
may vary from the stated above and is subjected to the approval by the Ministry of Education
Malaysia.
