STRATEGIC PLAN 1

TO DEVELOP AN ADVANCED AND ESTABLISHED INFRASTRUCTURE AND ICT SERVICES TO SUPPORT
TEACHING, LEARNING AND RESEARCH UNIVERSITY

Information technology (ICT), particularly infrastructure and ICT services is an important medium in
helping the University of Malaya's to achieve its vision to be a leader in research and innovation.

ICT infrastructures that are resilient, reliable and have a high level of security to support online services
developed by The University of Malaya so that it can be accessed globally and hence increase
productivity.

Careful planning is much needed to realise the infrastructure-related projects for the next three years
ahead in line with the vision of The University of Malaya and able to meet the comprehensive scope, has
a high resilience against the increasing consumer demand and the possibility of cyber attacks and
disasters.

Therefore, the following infrastructure has been planned:

• Upgrade the network infrastructure including wireless network.
• Improve data centre facilities to support application systems that support teaching, learning
and research at The University of Malaya
• Provide an effective disaster recovery facility
• Ensure the sustainability of infrastructure is at the most satisfactory level through centralised
security monitoring system
