EXCELLENCE AWARD
The Centre for Sport & Exercise Sciences Excellence Award is a yearly award for students who
have completed their studies. This exclusive award is reserved for those who excel in academic
as well as show active participation in sports. The recipients will be awarded a certificate and a
plaque.
MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
1. The Sports Centre Final Stage students (scheduled to receive a degree at the next Convocation
Ceremony); and
2. Has represented at least the state as an athlete, coach or manager while studying at the University of
Malaya; and
3. Has represented the University of Malaya as an athlete, coach or manager at least for two consecutive
years; and
4. Has a CGPA of 3.5 and above; and
5. Has no disciplinary record during the period of study.
SELECTION FOR THOSE ELIGIBLE WITH MINIMUM CRITERIA
KRITERIA MINIMA
Students with the highest score will be selected, but for any ties or disputes, the ultimate decision is at the
discretion of the Academic Committee or the Director of the Sports Centre.
Calculation of marks is as follows:
Participation in Sports (can be combined in total)
Represented Country (Elite/Senior) 20 marks
Represented Country (Junior) 15 marks
Represented State 10 marks
The recognised sports are at the discretion of the Academic Committee. Marks are given only once
although the candidate represented many times. However, if there are candidates with the same overall
score, the number of times representing the state or country will be considered.
Academic Performance
Never failed any course 5 marks
For each increment (0.05) after CGPA 3.5 5 marks (each time)
Presented a research paper at a seminar/journal 5 marks (each time)
