                  IIM1003  ADMINISTRATION OF ISLAMIC LAW IN MALAYSIA

                         Generally this course provides discussion  on how the Islamic Law is administered in Malaysia. It begins
                         with the powers of Federal and States government in promulgating and enforcing Islamic Law.  It also
                         covers the background of the establishment of Islamic Religious Council and Shariah Court, the power
                         of Federal and States government in promulgating and enforcing Islamic law. It also emphasizes on the
                         institutions which govern the Islamic law including Council/Department of Religious Affair, Shariah Court
                         and Mufti office. The issue of   conflict  of jurisdiction between Shariah and Civil Courts will also be
                         discussed.

                         Course Learning Outcomes
                         At the end of this course, students are able to:
                         1.   Explain the background of Islamic Law in Malaysia
                         2.   Identify the Federal and States powers in promulgating and administering Islamic Law.
                         3.   Analyze the function of religious authority responsible in the administrating and enforcing Islamic
                             Law.

                  IIM3001  RESEARCH METHODOLOGY IN ISLAMIC LAW

                         The course focuses on fundamental research methodology in social science  adapted to Islamic studies.
                         The studies will discuss on how to conceptualize and operationalize problem statements, to formulate
                         research instruments in data collection and to identify primary and secondary sources in conducting
                         research.

                         Course Learning Outcomes
                         At the end of this course, students are able to:
                          1.   Design the Islamic law research project relevant to the problems and  issues
                          2.   Apply the skills in finding and using primary and secondary sources
                          3.   Select, analyse and evaluate information both from traditional and modern sources
                          4.   Demonstrate research ethics
