UNIVERSITY OF MALAYA (FIRST DEGREE STUDIES) REGULATIONS 2017
In the exercise of the powers conferred by Rule 25 of the University of Malaya (First
Degree Studies) Rules 2017, the University of Malaya Senate makes the following
regulations:
1. NAME, COMMENCEMENT AND APPLICATION
(1) These Regulations may be cited as the University of Malaya (First
Degree Studies) Regulations 2017 and shall come into force from the
2017/2018 Academic Session.
(2) These Regulations shall apply to all students pursuing Degree
programme of study of the University commencing the 2017/2018
Academic Session EXCEPT for students pursuing the degree
programme of studies of the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of
Surgery Degree (MBBS) and the Bachelor of Dental Surgery Degree
(BDS) and the Bachelor of Jurisprudence (External) Degree.
(3) Notwithstanding anything stated in the provisions of subregulation (2),-
(a) students admitted in Admission Session 2012/2013 or before will
continue to be subject to rules pertaining to improvement of
course grade and/or academic performance and the conditions
on the award of degree as prescribed under the University of
Malaya (First Degree Studies) Rules 2010.
(b) students admitted in Admission Session 2013/2014 through
2016/2017 are subject to the conditions on the award of degree
as prescribed under the University of Malaya (First Degree
Studies) Rules 2013.
2. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
(1) Requirements/Basic Qualifications
(a) Every Malaysian candidate and Permanent Resident having an
Identity Card Number/MyKad who wishes to pursue a programme
of study at the University of Malaya must fulfill the general
requirements of the University as follows:
(i) passed the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) with a credit in
Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia or a credit in Bahasa
Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia July Paper and a pass in Sejarah
(SPM 2013 and above).
