                                                     It has been our pleasure to have a last minute interview
                                                     with Associate Professor Dr. Zamri Zainal Abidin, who
                                                     has taken up the portfolio of Deputy Dean
                                                     (Development) since Sept 2017.

                                                     Q (Editor): We understand that the division on
                                                     development of the Faculty is not only support the
                                                     current teaching and research activities, but also hold
                                                     the keys to drive the development of the Faculty to the
                                                     future of science education. May you share with us the
                                                     vision of the Faculty, and its mission for this year ?


                                                     A (Assc. Prof. Dr. Zamri Zainal Abidin): First of all our
                                                     vision is aligned with the Strategic Plan, i.e. to build a
                                                     student-oriented Science Faculty with supportive
                                                     infrastructure. We set the mission to promote
                                                     establishment of student centres in the all the
             Deputy Dean (Development)               departments within the Faculty, in addition to the
             Assc. Prof.   Dr.  Zamri Zainal Abidin  interactive student centre (called i3; pronounced as i-
                                                     cube) of the Faculty. This is hoped to foster a
                                                     conducive environment for learning and idea
                                                     exchanges, and to enhance creativity and innovation,

                                                     including after office hours and even on holidays.

                                                     As integration of ICT (Information and Communication
                                                     Technologies) into curriculum has a significant and
             ONE STOP ICT CENTRE                     positive impact on student achievement, we also set
                                                     the mission to launch a one -stop service centre for all
                                                     ICT services within the Faculty. Besides maximising the
             LIFELONG VALUE                          impact of ICT-related services, this centre will allow us

                                                     to increase students’ exposures to ICT to gain deeper
                                                     knowledge, and practical and soft skills in science
             HUB EDU-TOURISM                         education. My development team will also assist staff
                                                     lacking in the experience of using ICT tools including
                                                     setting up of devices and application software. A
                                                     development of mobile phone application for this
                                                     service will also be the ultimate aim for us.
