The suggested master’s degree of teacher librarianship programme is an
interdisciplinary programme. It comprises of subjects related to librarianship and
education. Based on this objective, a list of subjects that may be relevant to upskill
teacher librarians is suggested in Table 2. It is felt that these skills and knowledge could
be much needed by current teachers, library media teachers and librarians. The
respondents can then choose the subjects from the suggested list that are relevant and
related to librarianship to perform their tasks as well as to impart information and
technology skills. The result above indicates that teachers are eager to acquire
additional knowledge in librarianship.
Table 3 shows a list of relevant subjects related to education from which teachers may
choose according to their needs as teacher librarians to teach, instruct and carry out
school library activities. From the results, we can see that the respondents are keen on
subjects related to teaching and learning strategies as well as a much-needed training
in pedagogy.
