Therefore, respondents’ data shows that from a total of 110 library media teachers, 95
(86%) of them stated that they are interested to pursue a teacher librarianship course.

From the total of 19 librarian respondents, 16 (84%) of them want to pursue a teacher
librarianship course. The results provide a clear indication that the teacher librarianship
subject field is relevant to the respondents’ interests. Both library media teachers and
librarians are interested to pursue and enrol in this programme. It also indicates that they
may need teacher librarianship training in order to equip themselves in preparing future
                   human capital for IR 4.0.

                   DISCUSSION
At present, the rapid growth of the Industrial Revolution (IR) 4.0 is transforming
Malaysian Education institutions into the future education system 4.0. The impact of
IR 4.0 opens a new paradigm to ensure teachers are capable of using information and
communication technologies (ICT) in teaching and learning strategies (Siti Dianah, Ali,
Krejcar, Maressova, Nguyen, 2020). For that reason, well-trained teacher librarians will
further help to develop, establish and enhance school libraries to become 4.0 digital-
based information hubs rather than traditional collection centres. They will need to be
more technology savvy to prepare and manage school libraries confidently and
professionally. These add value to their teaching and learning strategies to enable
students to retrieve e-resources, provide e-resources and information services to support
teaching and learning. They may need to be more prepared to develop engaged readers,
digital literacy, information literacy to support student learning and academic success.
The prospective student population are librarians, teachers and library media teachers
