Messages of the Vice Chancellor MESSAGES OF THE VICE CHANCELLOR
11. Using the example of the development and triumphs of Universiti Malaya.
His Excellency mentioned the university as the epitome of the remarkable
progress achieved by the people of Malaysia over nearly seven decades since
independence, where the nations emerges as a quintessential example of
dynamism and innovation, underpinned by a diverse, sustainable, and promising
economy.
12. He mentioned that the region’s training and research institutions, including
Universiti Malaya, will play a crucial role in shaping the future of Southeast Asia,
making significant contributions to peace, stability, prosperity, and development
throughout the region, His Excellency wishes the campus community well, hoping
that the researchers and lecturers at the university continue to nurture exceptional
generations, contributing to the advancement of Malaysia, Viet Nam, and ASEAN.
13. All these portray our growing role, eminence and leadership at the regional level
and beyond in our continuous quest to create a better tomorrow for civilisations
and the world.

portrayed our resilience and consistency in driving new frontiers of standards,
quality and excellence.
21. I am proud of all of us for our performance in the QS Asia University Rankings
2025, securing 12th place out of 984 universities in Asia, 3rd in Southeast Asia,
and maintaining our first position in Malaysia. We also secured our place as the
60th best in the world in the QS World University Rankings 2025.
22. This achievement signals the drive to enhance academic excellence, impactful
research, and a vibrant and holistic learning and research environment.
23. I am very pleased that Universiti Malaya continues to elevate Malaysia’s profile
globally through our commitment, dedication, and hard work—not only for our
nation but for the world and civilisations.
