Home of the Bright. Land of the Brave
Di Sini Bermulanya Pintar, Tanah Tumpahnya Berani
24. The journey is still ahead and we will continue to work on areas that will need
further advancement and addressing, and we will continue to build on these areas
and to further achieve persistent improvements and progress in moving forward.
25. I extend my gratitude to the entire UM community— including academic and
administrative staff, students, partners, and collaborators—for their dedication
and contributions.
26. I also express appreciation for the steadfast support of UM’s Chancellor, Pro-
Chancellors, Board of Directors, and the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia.
27. We have also seen the conclusion of our 64 Convocation Ceremony, with 16
th
sessions spanning more than a week, remaining one of the longest Convocation
Ceremonies on record.
28. With up to almost 10,000 graduands, we are extremely proud that this edition
is successfully implemented with the tireless efforts, support and commitment
shown by all parties of the campus community.
29. They have been working with utmost dedication and commitment, from the
planning stage to the execution and post program management, ranging from
our UM Security to our various personnel involved in managing the protocols and
flows and in managing our graduands and all family members and parents, to our
health personnel on duty and our cleaning staff, to our digital team and music
performers, and to all our staff and volunteers on duty as well as our academics
involved throughout the different sessions.
30. Many other groups of people have been involved in this grand but complex
show of greatness, in which the university is grateful for their contributions and
commitment.
31. It is indeed heartening to witness the camaraderie and the synergy shown in 49
connecting the different dots and in putting up a combined display of coordination
and professionalism.
32. We hope to continue this momentum moving forward in our core duties and
functions for next year, and to have an equally, if not more successful, 65
th
Convocation Ceremony.
The second part of the message is the need for us elevate our university’s status and
role as the nation’s foremost hope and forerunner in advancing the ideals of our nation
building and in uplifting the new hopes for our society and community.
33. Our research orientation, research outcome and knowledge creation and our
strategic foresight in using our resources, ingenuity of new future driven critical
and cutting edge sectors, and our best human capital and human minds must be
wisely shaped and moulded to assist our national efforts to transform the country,
and to eventually transform the world and global civilisations.
34. We remain committed to strengthening its position as a leading institution in Asia
and globally, embracing innovative growth and fostering a diverse and inclusive
academic environment.
35. We must continue to galvanise our expertise in advancing the nation and
battling global challenges. In leading the financial strategic management of the
nation’s coffers and in battling corruption and prioritising good governance and
ethical leadership, current national efforts to prioritise values, ethics and good
governance with progressive economic and societal development and a people
centred approach can be better strengthened by our roles with a new sense of
purpose and orientation.
36. In advancing the field of knowledge, research and higher education, we must
