44. The bidding for a third hospital of the same concept, the 3 UMSC of sorts,has 69

also started, and this is currently at the bidding level to the Employees Provident
Fund (EPF), which will further expand our capacity.
45. In order to advance and expand our human talent spectrum, the talent recruitment
drive has been started with a new strategic approach and pathway, and we have
managed to get 17 of high quality and top standard PhD holders with great talent
and expertise in our new drive in the UK.
46. These fine 17 PhD holders are from the industry, and top universities with the likes
of Imperial College London, Cambridge University, and Abeerdeen University,
among others. They are chosen out of hundreds of applicants, and this new
model will be replicated in new countries including Australia and the US. This new
model has saved us millions of ringgit, as we have managed to be a step ahead in
getting these talents without waiting for them to finish their studies.
47. In light of the recent spotlight on the safety and security of students on and off
campus nationwide, especially with the recent cases involving the UPSI bus crash
and the murder of the student of University of Cyberjaya, we in UM will continue
to hold this safety issue with the highest regard.
48. All infrastructure and mechanisms regarding the safety of our students will be
reviewed, updated and improvised, with the focus on ensuring a comprehensive
overview of safety in all aspects, will be taken into account ranging from buses
and transportations to student accommodation.
49. We once again express our deep condolences to the victims of the bus incident
and to the family of Maniishapriet Kaur Akhara.
50. With the new feat of pride and achievement of our QS World University Rankings
2026 where we achieved the historic high of 58th in the world, underscores our
unwavering commitment and focus on delivering the best outcomes for the
excellence of not only academic, research and intellectual realms, but more
importantly, in making a positive change to the nation, the world and humanity.
