MS. Chee Huei Zhi
IInternship company: SGS (Malaysia) Sdn.Bhd.
Type of position: Laboratory intern (Technical)
Through my internship experience at SGS (Malaysia) as a
laboratory intern in the technical team, I was able to develop a
more thorough understanding of the function of a testing
company in quality assurance as well as the responsibilities of a
chemist in a testing company. I was tasked with a number of
duties, including gathering validation data, performing laboratory
tests in accordance with approved Standard Operating Procedure,
preparing samples, recording and editing recordings, developing
and validating models, improving data analysis, and calculating
performance characteristics.
For data collection and performance characteristic calculations, I primarily used Excel. I was able to employ a
formula much more quickly as a result, which has helped me improve my excel skills. Time management skills
are crucial because I was given numerous tasks to complete at once. I've always made sure to utilise all
available working time and to put an emphasis on effectiveness. In order to achieve correct measurements, I
also had the opportunity to train myself to pay closer attention to minutiae. In addition, I was able to brush up
on my pipetting and weighing techniques, which call for a lot of concentration, a steady eye, and precise
technique.

MS. IRDYNA UMAIRA
Internship duration: 8 weeks (27th July 2022 – 20th September 2022)
Industrial sector: Institute of Medical Molecular Biotechnology
(IMMB), Faculty of Medicine UiTM Sungai Buloh
Position: Research Assistant
It was a privilege to perform my 8 weeks of industrial training at
IMMB, Faculty of Medicine UiTM. I was assigned a research project
called "Cloning of a DNA plasmid consisting of stem cells
reprogramming gene transcripts" for my industrial training, which
included techniques related to DNA cloning, bacteria cell culture
(streaking bacteria plate), polymerase chain reaction (PCR), and gel
electrophoresis. Aside from completing the project,
I learned how to design forward and reverse primers with a specific software, which was new to me and very
interesting. Industrial training experience had a positive influence on me from the start, giving me a great
exposure of working in a laboratory. I am extremely grateful for these experiences, which have allowed me to
improve my laboratory skills while also allowing me to multitask and be more productive in the lab. It has
also given me the motivation and spirit to be more resourceful. Besides that, I had a great time doing my
industrial training at the institute because their laboratories, facilities, and environment are all welcoming
and resourceful, allowing me to do lab work comfortably. Moreover, I got to learn from seniors there and
observing how they handle their projects opened my eyes to the world of research. The valuable experience,
skills, and spirit I have gained from this industrial training, will lead me to a bright future in the working
world.
