INTERNSHIP
Mr. Muzaffar Bin Mustafar
Industry: Top Quality Glove Sdn Bhd (F19)
Industry Sector: Manufacturing
Position: Trainee in Research & Development
Department
The internship module by Bachelor of Science in
Chemistry enabled me to learn about the
manufacturing process. This includes incoming raw
material chemicals, compounding, in process, and
finished products. I had the opportunity to handle
instruments such as IR Spectra Analyzer, Particle Size
Analyzer, Zeta Potential Analyzer, Contact Angle
Analyzer, Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), and
Energy Dispersive Xray (EDX). Besides that, I
performed testing methods for chemicals and gloves
such as chemical stability, ash content test, tensile
strength test, coefficient friction test, cast film test,
powder level test, foaming height test, and overall
migration test. In addition, I carried out the "hand
dip" procedure using a new formulation of latex glove.
The internship module of the Bachelor of Science in
Chemistry improved my soft skills. I learned how to
manage my time to complete the daily tasks. In the
R&D department, I was also involved in assisting
other researchers in troubleshooting process and
learned to be independent. This internship helped me
to improve my communication skills with colleagues
and the higher management. Through this
opportunity given by Universiti Malaya, I am prepared
mentally and physically for employment.
