Programme Educational Objectives
The objectives of the PhD programme are to produce graduates who can:
• Advance innovation in research and practice.
• Lead research as an adept researcher and/or practitioner at the national
and/or international levels.
• Disseminate research output and/or provide expert advice in an ethical and
professional manner.
Programme Learning Outcomes
In line with the above goals, at the end of the programme, the graduates of PhD will
be able to achieve the following programme outcomes:
• Synthesise and contribute knowledge in the respective research field.
• Adapt appropriate practical skills and research methodologies leading to
innovative research.
• Communicate the significance and implications of the research in the national
and international contexts.
• Conduct research independently and adhere to legal, ethical and/or
professional codes of practice.
• Display leadership qualities through effective communication and
collaboration with peers and stakeholders.
• Address issues of research using appropriate critical thinking, problem solving
and/or scientific skills.
• Integrate information for lifelong learning.
Entry Requirements
Applicants for the programme should possess:
• Possess a Bachelor’s degree with honours or equivalent in a related field from
a recognised university, priority is given to candidates who have a Bachelor
degree with a CGPA of at least 3.0 or equivalent;
• A Master’s degree by research OR Coursework OR Mixed Mode with a CGPA
of at least 3.0
• At least a band 6.0 for IELTS or a minimum score of 550 for the paper based
TOEFL (For international applicants only).
Career Prospects
Doctoral graduates are highly trained specialist in their field. You may enter a career
in academia, research or consulting and undertake specialist roles; analysts in
investment banking, marketing etc.
