BSGF6308 BUILDING PERFORMANCE & ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT
4 Credits Introduction to various types of building assessment methods; understanding material behaviour due to
mechanical, biological, chemical and environmental agents; deterioration on modern and traditional materials.
This course is taught by experts and researchers associated with the built environment and explore sustainable
issues at an advanced level. It provides students with the knowledge, skills and tools to be able to evaluate and
advise on the creation of sustainable buildings as well as evaluate the environmental impacts of their decisions
At the end of this course, students are able to:
1. Identify various methods of implementation in energy audit.
2. Evaluate green building principles and practices
3. Integrate professional skills in achieving sustainable environmental management system.
BSGF6310 PRINCIPLES OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT
4 Credits The course content comprises of introduction to project management including overview and concepts of project
management (principles and strategies) and planning for successful projects which covers defining, specifying,
delivery options, scheduling and budgeting.
At the end of this programme, students are able to:
1. Identify the concept and principles of project management
2. Apply theoretical knowledge in employing feasibility studies of the project
3. Analyse project activities through effective planning methods
BSGF6311 CORPORATE REAL ESTATE AND PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT
4 Credits Strategies in managing effective real estate portfolio, operational and non-operational real estate; strategic
planning and analysis; legal, economic and technical aspects in execution of portfolio management; space
planning; lease and tenancy; merger, acquisition and disposal; corporate financing
At the end of this course, students are able to:
1. Recognise corporate holdings and investment in real estate.
2. Perform strategic decision-making in real estate investment portfolio.
3. Evaluate performance of real estate investment portfolio and holdings.
4. Appraise tenure decisions
BSGF6212 RESEARCH PROJECT
10 Credits Research projects will involve the generation of new scientific information and a review and understanding of the
pertinent scientific literature. The research may be conducted in a university laboratory, organisation, etc.,
depending upon the project and the supervisor. The time commitment includes developing a justified research
plan, implementing that plan, gathering the research data, reading or searching literature, and writing up the
results of the project.
At the end of this course, students are able to:
1. Develop skills and knowledge on the application of the concepts and strategies in the research project.
2. Integrate knowledge, communication, critical thinking and skills in solving research problems
3. Write research framework in dissertation format.
