Prosodi dan Retorik Tamil
Prosody and Rhetoric of Tamil

Kursus ini akan membantu pelajar mendalami unsur-unsur prosodi dan retorik Tamil tradisional dan moden dalam empat peringkat
berbeza. Peringkat pertama memberi pendedahan terhadap unsur- unsur prosodi dan retorik. Peringkat kedua memberi penekanan
kepada pengenalan bentuk-bentuk retorik dalam prosodi Tamil tradisional dan moden. Dalam peringkat ketiga pelajar mendapat
pendedahan kepada pengaplikasian bentuk-bentuk retorik dan Prosodi Tamil tradisional dan moden. Pada peringkat keempat pelajar
akan dibantu menghasilkan tulisan puisipuisi berasaskan kepada kesemua prinsip-prinsip dan bentuk-bentuk Retorik dalam Prosodi
Tamil tradisional dan moden yang dipelajari.

This course will enable students to learn and apply the elements of rhetoric and prosody of Tamil in four different stages. At the first
stage, the students will learn the basis of prosody and rhetoric such as letters, syllables, verse, metres, lines and rhymes and so on. At
the second stage, the students will learn about various types of prosody and rhetoric that have been developed so far. At the thrisg
stage the students will be introduced with ways in which employing them effectively. At the fourth stage, the students will be taught to
produce poems using the prosody and rhetoric elements that they have learned.

Kesusasteraan Tamil Malaysia
Malaysian Tamil Literature

Kursus ini meninjau faktor-faktor yang membawa kepada kelahiran kesusasteraan Tamil Malaysia serta perkembangan puisi, sajak
moden, novel dan cerpen Tamil Malaysia. Kajian teks pilihan puisi, sajak moden, novel dan cerpen Tamil Malaysia akan dibuat.
Penganalisaan tentang masalah serta cabaran sosial, politik, ekonomi dan agama masyarakat India di Malaysia menerusi teks pilihan
akan diusahakan. Ciri dan unsur utama teks pilihan sebelum dan selepas kemerdekaan akan dibandingkan.

This course studies the advent of Malaysian Tamil Literature. The development of poetry, modern poetry, novels and short stories in
Malaysia will be studied. Selected texts will be used to study the various genres of Tamil in Malaysia. An analysis of problems related to
sociology, politics, economics and religion of the Tamils in Malaysia will be done through literary texts. A comparison between various
texts before and after independence will be carried out.

Falsafah India
Indian Philosophy

Kursus ini akan mendedahkan pelajar kepada sejarah kelahiran falsafah India. Pengenalan kepada pelbagai aliran dalam sistem
falsafah India, termasuk sistem Vedik dan sistem-sistem Carvaka, Jaina dan Buddha sebagai falsafah bukan Vedik akan dibuat. Selain
itu sistem minor seperti falsafah Saiva Siddhantha juga akan dibincangkan. Setiap sistem akan dinilai dan dibincangkan kedudukannya
dalam sistem keseluruhan falsafah India. Pelajar akan diberi peluang untuk menilai, mengkritik serta menghubungkaitkan kesesuaian
ajaran falsafah India dengan kehidupan semasa.

This course is outlined to expose the students to the origin of Indian Philosophy. The introduction of various schools of thought found in
Indian Philosophy including Vedic systems and Carvaka, Jaina and Buddhist philosophies known as non-Vedic systems will be studied.
Each system is evaluated and its importance in the Indian Philosophy will be discussed. Students are given the chance to evaluate, criticize
and relate them to suit their present life.
