Learning Outcomes At the end of the course, students are able to:
1. Understand concepts associated with sport, management and Sports
Management.
2. Define Sports Management principles.
3. Explain the evolution of sports management as an academic discipline.
4. Demonstrate an awareness and an understanding of administrative practices in
Sports Management.
Synopsis of Course Contents Students will be introduced to basic concepts in Sports Management. Students will be
able to identify Management theories applied in Sports Management. There will also be
discussions on the evolution of sports management as an academic discipline. Students
will be required to prepare a comprehensive report of their visits to selected sports
organisations.

1. Discuss the concepts in sports and factors which influence Sports participation.
2. Identify how Sports has contributed to society.
3. Discuss the issues and future of Sports in society.
Synopsis of Course Contents This course will evaluate Sports in society, with emphasis on socio-cultural issues,
equality in Sports and problems in sport. The main focus will be on current issues
related to structure, function and organisation of sports in modern society, with
emphasis on the Malaysian experience.
