Outcomes
1. Demonstrate correct and safe strength and conditioning training
for elite athletes
2. Develop a variety of physical conditioning training methods
3. Appraise a variety of resistance training and physical
conditioning methods and programmes
Synopsis This course will cover both theory and practical components of
strength and conditioning. This course is an advanced course with
the focus on elite athletes. Various anaerobic (i.e. plyometric, speed
and agility) and aerobic training programs will be covered. In
addition, functional and power training such as Olympic lifts will be
emphasised. Ultimately a safe and systematic physical conditioning
approach to enhance performance will be taught. The practical
session will be conducted in the laboratory, gymnasium, track
and/or in the field
