CIDOS E-LEARNING PLATFORM: FACING THE CHALLENGE OF NEW
TECHNICAL EDUCATION NORMS AT POLITEKNIK KUCHING

ABSTRACT
The e-learning platform is a necessary aspect to ensure that the field of higher education
continues to be implemented effectively, especially in facing the challenges of COVID-
19 in Malaysia. CIDOS is implemented centrally by the Department of Polytechnic
Education and Community Colleges (JPPKK) to facilitate the learning and teaching
process for all polytechnics in Malaysia. CIDOS has been in use since 2011 to provide
a platform for the implementation of flipped classrooms, quizzes, note sharing and
coursework. In addition, CIDOS has enhance the ability of polytechnics in overcoming
the shortage of lecture rooms, encouraging student centered learning, interactive and
flexible learning time. Various challenges were faced during the implementation of
CIDOS such as internet facilities, hardware, self-management and increased cost of
learning materials. Finally, suggestions and improvements are aspects that will help
improve the capabilities of CIDOS, especially in updating learning materials, hardware,
and training.

ABSTRAK
Platform e-pembelajaran adalah aspek yang diperlu bagi memastikan bidang pengajian
tinggi terus dilaksana secara berkesan, terutamanya dalam menghadapi cabaran
COVID-19 di Malaysia. CIDOS dilaksana secara berpusat oleh Jabatan Pendidikan
Politeknik dan Kolej Komuniti (JPPKK) bagi memudahkan proses pembelajaran dan
pengajaran untuk semua politeknik di Malaysia. CIDOS telah diguna sejak 2011 untuk
memberi platform bagi pelaksanaan kelas “flipped’, kuiz, perkongsian nota dan kerja
kursus. Di samping itu, CIDOS telah meningkatkan kemampuan politeknik dalam
mengatasi kekuranagan bilik kuliah, mendorong pembelajaran berpusatkan pelajar,
