                   LITERATURE REVIEW
The development of ICT technology is very fast throughout the world and has opened
many opportunities and innovations in the educational world. E-learning has dominated
the world of education around the world. Recent technological changes and the
expansion of internet use have brought great changes to e-learning. Suruhanjaya
Komunikasi dan Multimedia Malaysia (2020) stated that an internet usage study in 2020
showed that there were 88.7 % internet users compared to 87.4 % internet users in 2018,
an increase of 1.3%. Through e-learning, there are various interactive learning cultures
such as online discussions, forums, chats and others. The widespread use of the internet
by engaging in research through technology will encourage the use of the latest
educational methods. A study by Hashim (2015) noted that many people obtained
knowledge through online discussions, listening to podcasts, watching Youtube,
attending lectures or online webinars, reflection in social media such as blogs and wikis,
browsing the web, and some even formed online collaboration.

The innovation of the educational world has helped to provide opportunities for those
who have failed to fulfill their education at some point while studying through e-
learning. E-learning has changed the pattern of education. Saghiir et al. (2016) opined
that distance education has evolved as one of the option for those who want to further
their studies to universities with career and family commitments at the same time.
Meanwhile, Raghavan (2009) stated that open and distance learning have created
opportunities for those seeking knowledge. He also argued that the growing demand for
such international education is influenced by the global economy and labor market.
Meanwhile Chea (2015) noted that open and distance learning (ODL) is the phenomenon
in the today’s education due to the globalization of education. It has caused a new stir in
the education path and this new surge of development in education will bring the vision
of equitable opportunity to education within practical reach.

The excitement of learning can be derived from e-learning methods because interactive
learning uses various mediums such as video, multimedia and others. The benefits of e-
learning can attract students, especially the younger generation. Norhapizah et al. (2016),
found that students are able to learn new skills and share fieldwork online which gives
them a meaningful experience and satisfaction. Therefore, it is important to note that the
