ADVANTAGES
No Boundaries or Limitations
E-learning helps students to manage their time especially in accessing the e-learning
portal at any time of the day to interact, answer quizzes, submit papers and others.
Ahmad and Chua (2015) stated that the flexibility and accessibility of e-learning have
added a new dimension to the world of education. E-learning will be a potential choice
that can help improve learning performance and quality. With reference to e-learning at
PKS, both the CIDOS and MOOC can be accessed 24/7 from any device such as laptops
or smartphones from any location. CIDOS has changed the pattern of the students’ way
of learning and the lecturers’ method of teaching in PKS. Tan (2016) noted that at the
same time, it enables the hosting college or university to extend its service to a wider
population, extending the institution’s aspiration into the local community.
Student Centred Learning
CIDOS is also a student centered e-learning system and has encouraged learning and
teaching to occur in two ways. a change of learning method is important to achieve
excellence among students. In his study, Ilyas et al. (2017) stated that a lecturer's
teaching methods must be changed where face-to-face lectures are no longer encouraged
and should be replaced with the tasks of planning, managing, supporting and facilitating
learning. A robust learning network needs to be designed by lecturers to help students
acquire the best learning experience. (Marunic and Glazar, 2015) mentioned that student
centered blended learning environments have been developed fostered by current and
advanced technologies.
Interactive
E-learning is an interesting learning activity, while CIDOS is a learning platform
designed to provide educators and learners with a single robust, secure and integrated
system to create personalized learning environment. The delivery of learning and
teaching methods between instructors and students becomes more interesting due to the
use of technology that can stimulate student interest. Both CIDOS and MOOC have an
interactive pattern implementation compared to a very static traditional method that may
make half of the class quickly lose focus. Ismail et al. (2018) stated that student learning
can be enhanced by using effective methods or means to ensure maximum mastery by
students as presented by educators.. According to Ilyas et al. (2017), the learning process
can be implemented more effectively and help increase the students’ understanding and
achievement for any course.
