Leading with Purpose
Messages of the Vice Chancellor MESSAGES OF THE VICE CHANCELLOR
12. This UMHealth vision
will seek to encompass
the best of our offerings
to create a resilient,
forward-looking and
strategic combination
of our health and
medical expertise.
13. No longer will we
be trapped by our
territorial mentality and
the everlasting mindset
of safeguarding one’s
own territory. For us
to create future proof
solutions and resilience,
we must chart new
ways of creating what
is best for us and the
nation.
14. This new UMHealth
Vision will form a
synergized and
consolidated platform
to present the best of
our combined capacity
14 and expertise, without
jeopardizing the identity
and essence of each
centre or faculty.
15. I have visited all the entities of the health spectrum, from PPUM to UMSC to the
Faculty of Medicine. I have been impressed by the level of services and facilities,
and the dedication of our staff there.
16. I have also just recently paid an unannounced visit to the Trauma and Emergency
Department of PPUM and have been satisfied with the services there.
17. Having said that, there are always rooms for improvement and upgrade, and we
will continue to ensure that the level of professionalism, services and passion
in our dealings and services with the patients, the public and stakeholders will
continue to be of the highest level, using our brand of UM as the premier institution
and our expertise to the best level.
18. That leads to the second point that I would like to address. We will continue to
prioritise the needs and welfare of our amazing human capital, for us to provide
the best to our students and other stakeholders.
19. I have recently met with the team from the Student Affairs Division, and have
outlined my commitment and directive to all members of the team to provide the
best services and support to all our students in the university.
20. This includes the entire spectrum of of our student composition, ranging from
local students to international students across all faculties, residential colleges,
those residing off campus, and in all levels of studies.
21. We will continue to ensure that the student support system remains comprehensive
and robust and taking into account the changing demographic and future driven
challenges and needs, and will continue to strive for constant improvements and
changes.
