Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh and Salam Sejahtera

I would like to address two pertinent domains, moving forward.
1. The first one involves our comprehensive health expertise and domain, and our
openings in the form of UMHealth.
2. We have the best health expertise and services in the country, and we will continue
to preserve and enhance our combined and consolidated capacity, leadership
and offerings in this regard.
3. For this to be sustained, we must be smart, strategic and future driven in our
approach and strategy in fully utilising and getting the best returns from our
various health related expertise and services.
4. We have the best, the oldest and the biggest teaching hospital in the country,
our pride of PPUM. We also have the best Medical faculty in producing the best
medical graduates in different disciplines for the country, our Faculty of Medicine
and also related health faculties including Faculty of Dentistry and Faculty of
Pharmacy. 13
5. Apart from these, we have our own specialist hospital, the UM Specialist Centre.
All of our world class expertise and capacities in this health and medical field
must be strategically managed, for us to get the right derivation of interests and
impact.
6. Apart from that, we also have various medical related research facilities and
centres that are working on solutions to medical challenges, including our own
TIDREC and other research centres focusing on the field of medicine and health.
7. All these will be critical to the nation, the people and the global humanity as a
whole, as future research outcome or medical breakthroughs and services will be
for the good of world and humanity.
8. From creating life saving vaccines to providing new breakthroughs in critical
healthcare and inventions, UM must continue to lead in these fields and to be the
pioneer and catalyst of the nation in being the best medical and health platform
and foundation.
9. As such, we will ensure that we tap, galvanise, synergise, consolidate and pool our
best expertise in a transcending model, in order to boost synergy, interoperability
and joint capacity in various areas,
10. This is where our UMHealth concept comes into the picture. The main vision is
to be in integrated world class centre for health and medical related research and
service platform in leading the drive for national and global wellbeing in creating
the next frontier of excellence and eminence in the field.
11. Times are changing fast, with new risks and challenges in health and non-health
settings. Hence, we can no longer afford to continue our business as usual
method of running things and we must always be steps ahead in getting the best
out of our expertise.
