Messages of the Vice Chancellor MESSAGES OF THE VICE CHANCELLOR

                                     15. The upgrading of facilities and the building of new projects are all geared to ensure
that the campus community will be able to enjoy a better and more streamlined
mode of services and facilities that will be needed to meet with the demands of
our research, teaching and learning and normal operational needs of the entire
                                         university.
                                     16. All these are taken into account, especially in anticipating the massive changes
and demands of the future, which will be technology and digital oriented.
                                     17. Among the projects include upgrading of lifts, ICT networks and infrastructure,
Wi-Fi systems upgrading and maintenance, sewage system upgrading, and
research lab and teaching facilities’ upgrading works in various faculties including
Faculty of Pharmacy, Dentistry, Science and Medicine.
                                     18. Other works include the numerous upgrading projects and repair of facilities
in faculties and other residential colleges especially on roofing, lecture halls’
                                         improvements, walkways and others.
                                     19. We are also focusing on improving the conditions of the toilets on campus. We
have started works in refurbishing and repairing some toilets, and plans are in the
pipeline to include all toilets on campus which will be earmarked for improvements,
including water systems in the toilets.
                                     20. Upgrading works in Residential Colleges have also been ongoing, with works to
refurbish and upgrade toilet facilities and public areas in the colleges being given
                                         the focus.
                                     21. Facilities that are catered to the special needs of our disabled students are
also given the priority, with works on maintenance and upgrading of facilities in
                                         residential colleges and other areas.
22 22. The university’s energy, water and utilities domains are critical, and upgrading
works on power lines and electric and power and water distribution systems are
important to ensure smooth operational needs and to meet the future needs of
                                         the campus.
                                     23. All these are taken into account, and the status of the projects are rigorously
being kept track to ensure timely delivery and for the convenience of the campus
                                         community.
                                     24. All main roads and all roads on campus will also be given attention, where repairs
and maintenance and road surfacing will be undertaken to ensure roads are
safe to be used at all times and to avoid any risks posed to road users including
potholes and others. Safety measures and necessary warning systems and other
measures are being taken to provide safe and smooth connectivity and travel on
                                         campus.
                                     25. Safe, convenient, and smooth public facilities and services on campus are critical
to the operational and strategic needs of the university, and we must continue to
preserve and maintain our assets and facilities for our own campus community to
operate and contribute to their daily activities.
                                     26. A persistent and solid maintenance culture and quality assessment and control
must be in place to ensure that all new projects that are implemented will be
continually monitored and maintained and timely checks and improvements are
made to ensure all facilities are safe and in order.
                                     27. Another major project that is geared to be ready on time is our refurbishment
efforts of our long neglected Rumah Universiti, and works are in the final stages
of completion, upon which, it will remain as another landmark and pride of the
                                         university.
                                     28. Adding to Rumah Universiti, is our pride of the university, the Dewan Tunku
Canselor (DTC). Works are ongoing to transform the DTC into a world class venue
which will be catered for a comprehensive spectrum of functions and capacities,
without affecting and compromising its status and legacy as a national heritage
building. All necessary precautions are in place to ensure that no part of the
