Geography and GIS in Election Studies:

Professor Dr. Rosmadi Fauzi's Session with the

    Election Commision with SPR

By Assoc Prof Dr Md Azalanshah Md Syed
The Election Commission (EC) of Malaysia is preparing for the
upcoming election in six different states. The commission
often pays attention and is sensitive to the views and studies
from universities, and has invited various academics to
discuss and provide feedback on election studies.

The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, University of Malaya,
is one of the faculties that works closely with the EC. Professor
Gs. Dr. Rosmadi Fauzi from the Department of Geography is
one of the most sought after researchers in this field. Sharing session with SPR
Professor Rosmadi held a talk on 25 May 2023 with members
of the top management, at Dewan Taklimat, Menara SPR,
    Putrajaya.

Among the issues discussed that day were interesting
findings of GIS maps for previous GE-15 studies. He also
talked about the art of demarcation in a geographical context
as well as plans for the Malaysian election processes. The
event lasted for two hours with a Q&A session at the end. The
faculty anticipates similar future scholarly partnerships with
    other government agencies.
