Prof. Dr. Siti Hajar Abu Bakar Ah, Prof. Dr. Haris Abd
Wahab, and Mr. Looi Siew Teip (Fundamental Research
Grant Scheme).

The Faculty also extends congratulations to Prof Dr
Haris Abd Wahab, AP Dr Roy Anthony Rogers, AP Dr
Mohd Awang Idris, Dr Mashitah Hamidi, and Dr Fadli
Abdullah on the publication of their new single-
authored, co-authored, or edited books.

Awards and Recognitions

Wang Gungwu and Malaysia, edited by the Dean of
the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Datuk Professor
Dr. Danny Wong Tze Ken, and Professor Dr Lee Kam
Hing, has received the 2022 National Book Award for
Best General Book.

The book was published in 2021 to commemorate
Professor Wang’s 90th birthday and contains 16 essays
by his colleagues and students reflecting on his career
and legacy as one of the leading historians of Southeast
Asia today. Congratulations to the editors and chapter
contributors!
