(6) Absent From Examination
Subject to the provisions stated in these Regulations, a student who
does not attend the final examination for any course shall be given a
zero mark for the final examination component of the course concerned.
(7) Management of Grade I
(a) Absent from Final Examination
(i) Where a student did not take in part or in whole the
examination for medical reasons or for compassionate
reasons such as being involved in a disaster or death of
parents including a guardian, a child, a spouse, a sibling,
grandfather or grandmother, he must submit a written
request to the Dean of the Faculty of the programme of
study for his case to be considered by the Committee of
Examiners concerned. In this situation, the case shall be
dealt with in accordance with paragraph (ii) below. Where
no written application is received, the case shall be dealt
with in accordance with subregulation (6) above.
(ii) A written application as stated in paragraph (i) above must
be submitted to the Dean of the Faculty of the programme
of study not later than two (2) working days from the date
of the student’s final examination paper. The written
application must be accompanied with :
(A) A medical leave certificate and a doctor’s report
pertaining to the type of illness and health condition
of the student that is issued by a Registered Medical
Practitioner from the University Student Health
Clinic/Government Hospital/University of Malaya
Medical Centre/ Private Medical Centre in the event
of medical reasons. A medical leave certificate and
a doctor’s report issued by any private clinic shall
not be considered; or
(B) A report from a district officer or police officer who
is the head of the student’s district if his absence for
in part or in whole of the examination was due to
compassionate grounds as stated above.
(iii) Upon receiving a written request as stated in paragraphs
(i) and (ii) above, the Dean of the Faculty of the programme
of study of the student shall report the matter to the
Committee of Examiners concerned. The Committee of
Examiners after considering the case can decide to either:
