Pentadbiran Kolonial British di Malaysia
British Colonial Administration in Malaysia

Kursus ini akan membincangkan perkembangan kemaraan penguasaan British sebelum tahun 1874. Perbincangan seterusnya akan
difokuskan terhadap Pentadbiran British di era Sistem Residen dan di era pentadbiran di Negeri-negeri Melayu Bersekutu. Tumpuan
juga akan diberikan terhadap tajuk pengukuhan kuasa pusat dan isu-isu disentralisasi di tahun 1920- an dan 1930-an. Sebagai
perbandingan, kursus ini turut melihat sistem pentadbiran British di Negeri-negeri Melayu Tidak Bersekutu, Pentadbiran Brooke di
Sarawak dan Pentadbiran Kompeni Berpiagam di Sabah.

In the introduction, this course discuss the British forward movement before 1874. Further discussion will be focussing towards the British
administration in two periods i.e. Residential system and the era of the British administration in the Federated Malay States. Besides the
above themes, the topic of consolidation of the central power and the decentralisation issues in 1920s and 1930s will be discussed
further. In comparison, this course also analyse the British administration system in the Unfederated Malay States, Brooke
administration in Sarawak and Chartered Company administration in Sabah.

Sejarah Filipina sehingga Abad ke-18
History of The Philippines to the 18th Century

Kursus ini memperkenalkan latar-belakang sejarah Filipina dari zaman pra-sejarah sehingga penjajahan Sepanyol. Antara topik awal
adalah pengenalan kepada kerajaan purba dan budaya penduduk di Filipina. Seterusnya, kursus ini akan membawa topik khusus
tentang zaman penjajahan Sepanyol seperti sistem pentadbiran, perubahan agama dan konflik dengan masyarakat setempat.

This course introduces the history of the Philippines by surveying its pre- historic development up to the Spanish colonization. Among the
early topics are introduction to ancient polities and cultures of precolonial inhabitants of the Philippines. Subsequently, this course will
look at topics focusing on various aspects of Spanish colonialism, including the administration, religious reforms and clashes with the
native inhabitants.

Dokumen dan Sumber Sejarah Malaysia
Documentation and Historical Sources of Malaysia

Kursus bermula dengan pendedahan kepada pelajar berhubung kategori sumber sejarah, lokasi penyimpanan dan kepentingan dokumen
primer sebagai sumber sejarah sebelum dijelaskan tentang kedudukan dokumen sebagai sumber sejarah primer, perolehan naskhah-
naskhah Melayu dan permasalahannya, perolehan dan penelitian rekod rasmi Melayu, Portugis Belanda, British dan lain-lain.
Seterusnya pelajar diperkenalkan dengan dokumen berbentuk memoir, warkah peribadi dan lain-lain sumber primer dan pengkajiannya.
Akhirnya, pelajar didedahkan kepada kaedah menganalisa dokumen dan peranannya sebagai sejarah politik, ekonomi dan sosial.

The course started with the exposure of students regarding category of historical sources, location of shelves, and the importance of
primary documents as historical sources. Students will be explained on the position of documents as historical primary source, collection
of Malay series and its problem, collection and identifying the formal Malay Records, the Portugese, the Dutch, the British and others.
Introducing documents in the forms of memoir, personal letters, and other kind of primary sources and its usage. Students will also be
expose to the document analyzing methodolgy and its role as political, economic and social sources.
