Political History of Thailand

Kursus ini meneliti perkembangan politik negara Thai sejak tercetusnya Revolusi Thai 1932 sehingga Krisis Mei 1992 mengikut tema.
Antara tema penting yang akan dibincangkan termasuk perkembangan institusi beraja dan peranannya sebelum dan selepas Revolusi Thai
1932, peranan tentera dan birokrat awam serta parti politik dalam perkembangan politik Thai. Disamping itu, pembentukan budaya
politik Thai dan bagaimana ia mempengaruhi perjalanan politik Thai dalam tempoh ini juga akan diperjelaskan. Penekanan akan diberikan
kepada siri rampasan kuasa yang berlaku serta perkembangan proses pilihanraya Thai antara 1932-1992.

This thematic-based course discusses the development of Thailand history from the 1932 Revolution until the May Crisis, 1992. Among the
themes discussed are the development of the institutional monarchy and its role before and after the 1932 Revolution, the role of the
military and brureaucrats, as well as political parties in the development of Thai politics. Discussion includes the formation of Thailand
political culture and how it affects the political process during this period. Emphasis will be placed on the series of Coup d’etat and the
Thai election process from 1932 until 1992.

History of Indochina

Indochina merupakan sebuah kawasan yang baru muncul dari konflik yang landar kawasan tersebut sejak bermulanya proses
kolonialisme. Dalam usaha negaranegaranya, Vietnam, Laos dan Cambodia sedang mengejar permodenan, terdapat faktor-faktor sejarah
yang dinamik yang mencorakkan tingkah-laku negaranegara ini. Maka kursus ini bertujuan untuk meninjau kembali faktor-faktor ini
dengan melihat kepada fasalfasal yang berlainan dalam sejarah rantau ini sepanjang 1883-1986.

Indochina is a newly emerging area from the conflict since the beginning of colonialism. In the efforts of pursuing modernization, there are
dynamic historical factors that shape the behavior of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. The course therefore aims to review these factors by
looking at the different phases in the history of the region between 1883 and 1986.
