16. Their physical and psychological transformation and the development of high self
discipline to safeguard the nation are truly inspiring. I personally take great pride
in witnessing their courage and I appreciate their sense of sacrifice, commitment
and efforts in their dedication and service to the nation and the country.
17. We celebrate the achievements and the future roles of our young talented people
in PALAPES, with their unyielding spirit and passion of serving the nation and in
showcasing their sacrifices and fighting spirit for the country.
18. So far, we have only the naval and land army wings in our UM PALAPES, and we
are now working towards establishing the air wing in our very own UM PALAPES,
which will mark a new chapter in our consolidated and comprehensive approach
in developing our very own human and technological talents in supporting our
national agenda.

The second part is on our international mark and presence, where I want to touch on
the importance of the right derivation of the international best practices, and history
and cultural experience and guidance in serving as the benchmarks and learning tools
in building our own systemic and structural excellence.

19. We have just seen the conclusion of the 53rd UM-NUS Inter-Varsity Tunku
Chancellor Golf Tournament hosted by NUS this year.
