Messages of the Vice Chancellor MESSAGES OF THE VICE CHANCELLOR
12 Malaysia Day Message from the
MESSAGE NO.
Vice Chancellor
16 SEPTEMBER 2024 Dear Campus Community,
Bismillahirrahmanirrahim
Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh and Salam Sejahtera
I want to send a three-part message to the entire campus community
1. The first part is about the progress that we have made over this year and the
importance of a no holds barred approach in ensuring that we achieve our targets
and objectives for this year as outlined in my Amanat 2024.
2. As we enter the final quarter and final stretch for this year, all units, departments,
faculties and Ptj are required to review their achievements for the past three
quarters and to identify the areas that have been set under my Amanat 2024
that are still not attainable. The key action plans to ensure that these areas are to
be achieved by this year must be included in a report to me, alongside with the
progress report for the achievements for this year.
3. The report by all of these faculties, centres and Ptj must be submitted no later
than 15 October 2024. Subsequent directions will ensue once the reports have
36 been analysed.
The second part is several updates that I’ll want to convey.
4. First, it is with delight to note that the inaugural Skim UM/KUPD has been approved
at the LPU level, and it will be implemented officially soon where the Pendaftar will
lead the operationalisation and the communication of the details to all the staff.
5. This is a breakthrough with great pride for UM, and this will be a proud achievement
that will be used as a benchmark for the whole nation as well.
6. As I have outlined repeatedly, the welfare and needs of our great pool of talents
and human capital remain our top priority, in order for us to give our best to
the institution and to have our institutionalised love and pride for our university,
equipped with the right values, appreciation and recognition.
7. I have also mentioned about the incentives to all the staff once we have got enough
capital. For now, the preliminary portion will be channelled to all our infrastructure
and development projects on campus which are in prioritised need for completion
for the benefit of our students and our campus community.
8. Once these have been completed and the timelines and the objectives have been
met, we will proceed with the capital incentives to all of our staff in the future.
9. We highly value our staff and students, as they form our main pillar and backbone
of our entire strategy and operation. We express our thanks and appreciation to
all our campus community.
10. Another update is on our efforts towards green initiatives and sustainability efforts
on campus. We will start from an initial gesture to have no single use plastic starting
from 1 November. The relevant details and mechanisms of implementations will
be shared soon by the relevant portfolios.
11. Another update is on the operationalisation of our Rumah Universiti. We are
going to officially launch our pride of RU, which will provide a new trademark
and opening for our common achievement, in further providing convenience and
support of accommodation.
