Book Donation by the Embassy of the People’s

                                       Republic of China


























    Deputy  Chief  of  Mission  of  the  Embassy  of  the  People’s  culture, education, foreign relations, and other aspects of
    Republic  of  China,  His  Excellency  Minister  Tang  Rui,      contemporary China. Minister Tang Rui and the Embassy
     visited the Institute of China Studies of the Faculty of Arts  delegation  were  received  by  Associate  Vice  Chancellor
    and Social Sciences of Universiti Malaya, on 2 March 2023.  Professor Dr Yahaya bin Ahammad and Dean of the Faculty
    Minister Tang’s visit was on invitation from the Institute of  of  Arts  and  Social  Sciences,  Datuk  Professor  Dr  Danny
    China  Studies,  in  recognition  of  the  generous  support  of  Wong. Minister Tang Rui and the Embassy delegation also
    the  Embassy  in  supplying  books  and  manuscripts  to  the  held  an  in-depth  roundtable  discussion  with  the
    resource  room  of  the  Institute  of  China  Studies.  Over  the  academics  at  the  Institute  of  China  Studies  on  issues
    years, the Embassy has donated more than 5,000 volumes    related   to   Malaysia-China   relations   and   regional
    of important books related to politics, economy, history,  cooperation and stability.

    On January 14th, 2023, the Department of Chinese Studies
    in  the  Faculty  of  Arts  and  Social  Sciences  (FASS)  jointly
    hosted  an  event  with  Soka  Gakkai  Malaysia  (SGM)  titled
    "Aesthetic  Imagery:  Dialogue  on  C.N.  Liew’s  Rocks  from
    Yon  Hills  Contemporary  Ink  Art  Exhibition”  at  Clare  Hall,
    University of Cambridge.

    The  event  invited  contemporary  artist  C.N.  Liew  and  Dr
    Ong Siew Kian, a lecturer from the Department of Chinese
    Studies, to engage in a cultural and artistic dialogue. They
    discussed  C.N.  Liu’s  artistic  perspective  and  the
    significance of his "Rocks from Yon Hills" exhibition at Clare
    Hall, Cambridge University from artistic, philosophical, and
    literary perspectives.
