Accreditation Manual for Program Owner
(1) Background
The background comprises of the following:
a) History of the University and Faculty.
b) History of the Programme. (When and why it was offered)
c) Alumni (Number and name of prominent alumni).
d) Clarification on certain aspects (e.g. certain unusual practice)
(2) Status on addressing accreditation recommendations
It is recommended to supplement the description with a Table as shown in Table 4.1.
Table 4.1: Sample table showing the status of addressing recommendations from the previous visit.
No. Recommendations Current status
Recommendations: can be extracted from the Summary Report from the panel. It can be summarized to focus on
the actual recommendation of the panel.
Current status: Typically, do not put in the intended actions stated in the Programme Improvement Plan (PIP)
and it should be the current status. For example, the recommendations may be “more academic staff”. In the PIP,
the programme owner “requested for more staff to the higher authorities”. If more academic staff has joined the
department due to the effort of the PIP, state the “number of new academic staff who has joined the department”.
This Table in the executive summary should be within one page. If the number of comments in the Summary
Report is too many (more than 1 page), highlight a few main ones (in a smaller Table) and refer the complete Table
in the attachment.
(3) Changes since last visit
The changes refer to any changes that occur since the date of the last accreditation visit. (If the changes have been
mentioned in the status of addressing the accreditation recommendations, it is not required to be repeated here.)
There may be a lot of changes in the department, it is advised to highlight on the few major changes. (To
guide the thought process, these changes can be broken down into seven areas of evaluation). Some suggestions
on changes to highlight for each area is shown below. Please do note to only highlight the major changes. Do not
attempt to state everything suggested below in the executive summary. This part should be written in not more
than 1 page.
Area 1 (Programme Development and Delivery)
# Changes in Key MQA Programme information: Name, Credit hours, Duration, NEC.
# When new curriculum was approved and which cohort uses the new curriculum.

Area 2 (Assessment of Student Learning)
