How to read the guidelines
The guidelines are broken down into the sub-areas. Each sub-area may have six components as listed below.
1. The main statement for the sub-area will first be mentioned
2. The standards for the sub area as extracted from the COPPA will be shown in the shaded box.
3. The key information on how to write the sub-area is shown in a Table with 6 columns.
a) Column 1: Show the requirements for each standard
b) Column 2: Suggest on what to write to address that standard
c) Column 3: Suggest the evidence required for that standard
d) Column 4 to 6: Show whether the evidence is required for the different type of accreditation through
the “X” mark. (P: Provisional, F: Full accreditation, R: Reaccreditation).
4. The standards for the sub area as extracted from the COPPA:ODL will be shown in the shaded box. There is
an extra column “Reference”.
a) If we see a number there, then the standard for ODL will require similar write up and evidence as the
typical COPPA standards (as shown from the number).
b) If we see “refer below”, then the standard for ODL may require some extra information or write up.
5. The key information (similar to item 3) specific for ODL programmes. This part may be missing if there is no
“refer below” as stated in item 4b.
6. Sample of the “Compulsory Guided Tables”. This part may be missing if there is no “Compulsory Guided
Tables” for that sub-area.
