                   CONCLUSION
Librarians are the best professional to own and implement knowledge management. This
article has firstly successfully shown that there is only a slight difference in the definition
of LIS with KM. Following that the type of knowledge is defined and in general, there
are two different types of knowledge and an indication that librarians and libraries are
already managing one type of knowledge. The near similarity continues when we look
at the competencies required for both LIS and KM. Lastly, with a slight variation, the
processes for both disciplines are also almost similar with the only difference in that the
LIS process is sequential and the KM process is not.

Simply, the two subjects share almost the same definition, discipline, competencies and
processes indicating that the librarian is the ablest professional to own and implement
KM. This can be done immediately with a proper understanding of KM. This presents
librarians with the best opportunity to shine and be more meaningful to the stockholders.
Instead of just managing external information now, librarians can expand their
responsibility to manage the knowledge assets of the organisation.
