Foreword

The Global Intellectual Discourse is both an academic and a visionary avenue by
Universiti Malaya in providing the platform for the highest discussion, debate and
dialogue on critical themes of the future that will have a monumental impact on a
myriad of sectors particularly the higher education industry, security and defence and
energy and technology sustainability.

With the theme: The Next 100 Years: Vision 2100 for Malaysia, this discourse seeks to
chart new frontiers in encompassing a diverse spectrum of perspectives, arguments,
analytical and critical discussions and debates on the way forward for the country
and the region in the next century. This includes the new critical and strategic fronts
of targeted sectors and industries that will propel the next advancement phase of the
country and the roles of the long term impact of the fast shifting internal and external
economic, geopolitical, scientific, technological and demographic transformations
over the next century.
The discourse aims to chart a bold and audacious strategic planning and a foundation
of resilience, agility and readiness to embrace uncertainties, risks and opportunities
for the country in a world where a completely different setting of domestic and global
scenario will emerge and to visualise distinct pathways and imaginations of the
country and the world in a future driven landscape with early intellectual and structural
foresight and readiness.

Prominent experts and stakeholders from the government, academia and industry are
220 invited to enrich the discourse which is projected to positively impact the national and
global narrative and strategic outlines of these critical discussions. From changing
geopolitical shifts to the future of energy transition and a digital economy, this event
seeks to chart new frontiers in dissecting the core essence of world class intellectual
debate and encouraging a robust and enriching academic and industrial synergy
of future resilience in projecting the future of the country and the world in the next
millennium.

This event will be attended by more than 2500 professors and students from across
the country, and invited thinkers, officials and intellectuals from various disciplines and
affiliations in providing the diverse and encompassing overview of quality intellectual
amalgamation.
The prestigious and inaugural signature platform entitled the Malaya Dialogue that
will seek to cultivate next level intellectual discourse on top global security, socio-
economic and power trends that will shape the future of the world.

Universiti Malaya will continue to chart the next frontier of national and global
advancement in a multi-domain of critical development and tools of resilience and
progress in addressing the challenges and opportunities of the next century.
