Universiti Malaya sentiasa terbuka kepada
para pesara kami. Tuan-puan akan
sentiasa menjadi sebahagian daripada
keluarga besar UM. Doa dan harapan
kami agar tuan-puan terus dikurniakan
kesihatan, ketenangan dan kebahagiaan,
serta kekal menjadi sumber inspirasi
kepada kami semua.

Terima kasih atas segala jasa, pengorbanan
dan sumbangan yang tidak ternilai.

UM hari ini dan masa depannya adalah
hasil perjuangan tuan-puan.

Today, I am deeply honoured and profoundly moved to attend the Appreciation
Ceremony dedicated to our retired Universiti Malaya staff - remarkable individuals
who have devoted years, and in many cases decades, of their lives to the service of
this great institution.

Universiti Malaya is not built merely by buildings, policies, or rankings. It is built by
people - by academics who shaped minds and values, by administrative and support
staff who ensured the university functioned with dedication and integrity, and by 227
those who worked tirelessly behind the scenes without seeking recognition. Every
milestone UM has achieved today stands firmly on the foundation laid by those who
came before us.

To our retired UM colleagues, your contributions have never faded. Many of you
witnessed generations of change, navigated transitions and challenges, and served
through moments of uncertainty with quiet strength and professionalism. Your
commitment, perseverance, and integrity have helped shape the culture, values, and
standards of excellence that define the DNA of Universiti Malaya today.

This ceremony is more than an expression of gratitude. It is a recognition of the
sacrifices made - the long hours, the personal compromises, and the unwavering
commitment to duty in service of the university and the nation. Your legacy lives on
through the students you nurtured, the systems you built, and the values you instilled,
now carried forward by new generations of the UM community.
Let me also affirm that Universiti Malaya’s doors remain forever open to our retirees.
You will always be part of the UM family. We wish you continued good health, peace,
and fulfillment in this new chapter of life, and we hope you remain a source of
inspiration and wisdom for us all.
Thank you for your invaluable service, sacrifices, and contributions.
