t marks another meaningful milestone for Universiti Malaya as
19 NOVEMBER 2025 we are once again recognised as Malaysia’s No. 1 university in
the QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2026, placing
Ius among the top institutions globally committed to shaping a
more sustainable future. UM now stands in the top 9% of universities
worldwide, and 16th in Asia - an achievement that reflects the
dedication, spirit, and collective will of our entire community.
This recognition is humbling, yet inspiring. It speaks not only to our progress in
research, education, and governance, but to the values and purpose that guide us as
a national institution. Our efforts in social impact, knowledge exchange, employability,
and environmental leadership are anchored on one belief: that a university must serve
as a force for the common good, for nation-building, and for the advancement of
humanity.
However, while we celebrate this accomplishment, we must be reminded that the
path ahead is far more important than the accolade itself. Our responsibility is greater
now - to inspire change, to nurture future generations, to deepen our commitment
to sustainability, and to contribute to a world that is more resilient, just, and
compassionate.
