Team building workshop: 2023 KPI Mapping
for the Department of Media and
Communication Studies
The Department of Media and Communication Studies
successfully organized a two-day workshop from 16 to 17
December, 2022 at the CUBE, FASS. This workshop aimed
to devise a departmental KPI achievement strategy based
on shared goals and mutual well-being. In addition, it
sought to achieve individual KPIs by empowering
individual natural strengths, providing support for
individual deficiencies, and identifying individual KPIs that
can be achieved together in collaboration.
Aiding the workshop was Mr. Nazaruddin Nicky Abdullah,
Head of Talent Experience & Culture Petronas Gas & New
Energy (GENTARI). As an APMG Certified Change
Management Practitioner, the discussion and activity for
day-one of the workshop was geared towards identifying Talk by Mr. Nazaruddin Nicky Abdullah
the department’s personal and collective strengths.
On the second day of the workshop, Dato' Prof. Dr
Kamaruzaman Jusoff (Principal Research Fellow) from the
Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and
Innovation), led the discussion on WoS/SCOPUS
Publishing Strategies and Techniques for KPIs and
Promotions; this included selecting the journal selection
for journal article submission, increasing one’s citations
and H-index, tips to overcome barriers in promotion, list of

Study Tour Programme
Wong Tze Ken, with the Department of Anthropology &
Sociology, FASS, organising various activities, as headed
by Dr Welyne Jeffrey Jehom since 2019. However, due to
COVID-19 the programme was unfortunately put on hold,
until finally being cleared for a two week tour between 19
Nov 2022 to 3 Dec 2022.
The first week saw an academic workshop on the Orang
Asli communities as well as a symposium on
Postcolonialism Decolonial Thought. The study tour in
West Malaysia ended with a workshop on Art Activism with
The Aboriginal Studies Center, Wirltu Yarlu at University of
Adelaide led by Dr. Kamaljeet Kaur and Uncle Rodney global Temuan artist, Shaq Koyok and the Tompok
O’Brien, the cultural leaders of the Aboriginal Studies Tompoh, Mah Meri weavers in Kpg. Sg. Bumbun at Pulau
Center organised an educational study tour on cultural Carey. In the 2nd week, the group toured Kuching,
