Interviewers of Mr Khoo Hai Chew
Tsai Jing Enr, Year 1
Before having any interview session with an older person, I might feel
worried because I am afraid I can’t get along well with them. I feel
worried that I might offend them in the way I interact with them.
During the interview sessions, everything goes really well. My
interviewee is a friendly uncle who is willing to share his life stories and
not forgetting to give us pieces of advice which will be useful for our
future life. After interviewing the older adult, my communication skills
have slightly improved and I have the courage to talk to them. The
interviewee helped us a lot in the research project. He is always ready to
provide us anything if we need them to be included in our project. Now,

Although the pace of the world is fast, we have to always care about the older generation. Don’t leave them
behind. We have to help them to survive in this fast-paced world. We should take the initiative to teach them
how to use new technology. Take the first step to show your love and respect to them. It will be fun if you step
out of your comfort zone and try to interact with the older generation. Nothing is more beautiful than a smile
that has struggled through years and tears. Appreciate and learn from the older generation.
Lelayani A/P Thanapalan,
Year 2
It was a pleasure to interview Mr.Khoo, as it was my first time initiating
a conversation with an older adult. For an introverted and very shy
person, it was a great opportunity to talk with someone and get to know
about his life. He shared his hard times and managed to give us some
advice. Talking to him made me realise how things were different back
then and now. I appreciate all the information he shared for this project
as well as for my own growth.
Always look back how far you
have come.

Take things easy and not be too hard on others. During this period, teens tend to compare themselves quite
often with their friends and people around them. It is vital to understand good things take time and it is
totally normal to make mistakes. Younger generations need to love themselves and not lose themselves.
