34. To tackle future pandemics, we will need epidemiologists from the world over, and
it cannot be confined to a single particular nation or region. To develop AI that is
safe and ethical, we will need diverse philosophers, engineers, and policymakers.
To address the growing threat of climate change, we will need researchers
who understand both the science and the human connections. To address
growing geopolitical and security challenges, we need diplomats, analysts and
peacemakers from all around.
35. These solutions cannot be developed in silos and isolation, and will demand an
openness and the deep trust that only academic freedom and local values can
guarantee.
