(6) Withdrawal
(a) Withdrawal from a course
(i) “Withdrawal from a course” means withdrawal from one or
more courses in a semester after the Add/Drop week.
(ii) The particulars of withdrawal from a course is as stated in
the table under Regulation 3(2)(b).
(iii) The application to withdraw from a course must be made
to the Dean of the Faculty concerned within the period
permitted in accordance to the prescribed rules.
(iv) Withdrawal from a course is not allowed after the fourth
lecture week of the Normal Semester and after the second
lecture week of the Special Semester.
(v) Withdrawal from a course after Friday of the fourth lecture
week of the Normal Semester and after Friday of the the
second lecture week of the Special Semester is not
allowed except for medical reasons. Applications must be
made to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor concerned through
the Dean of the Faculty.
(vi) Any application on medical grounds must be supported by
a medical report issued by a Registered Medical
Practitioner from the University Student Health Clinic/
Government Hospital/University of Malaya Medical
Centre/Private Medical Centre.
(vii) If an application is approved, a grade W will be recorded
for the course concerned.
(viii) If an application is not approved, the student is required to
continue his studies for the courseconcerned. A student
shall be given a grade F if he does not attend the course,
follow all teaching and learning activities and does not sit
for the examinations at the end of the semester concerned.
(ix) Withdrawal from a course for any of the reasons stated
below is not allowed:
(A) Unsatisfactory academic performance for any of the
courses;
(B) Insufficient readiness for the course concerned;
(C) Dissatisfaction towards any of the courses.
