(x) Withdrawal from a course is not allowed once the period
for semester examination has commenced.
(xi) A student who stopped attending lectures and did not
follow any of the teaching and learning activities of a
course without officially withdraw shall be given a grade F
in the student’s official record for the course concerned.
(b) Withdrawal from a semester
(i) “Withdrawal from a semester” means withdrawal from all
registered courses (if any) for the semester concerned or
leave from attending lectures for the programme of study
that is currently being pursued.
(ii) A withdrawal from a semester can be categorised as
follows:
(A) Semester Leave on Personal Reasons
(B) Semester Leave on Medical Reasons
(C) Semester Leave on Student Exchange Programme
(D) Gap Year Leave
(iii) A student is only allowed to withdraw from a semester after
he has undergone at least one semester of his programme
of study unless it is due to medical reasons. However, any
withdrawal from a semester for the purposes of Gap Year
Leave is allowed if the student has completed at least one
session of his studies.
(iv) A withdrawal from a semester on personal reasons is only
allowed for a period of two semesters throughout the
duration of his study. The minimum period for Gap Year
Leave is one normal semester and the maximum period is
two normal semesters taken consecutively.
(v) Application to withdraw from a semester must be made to
the Dean of the Faculty within the period allowed in
accordance to the prescribed rules.
(vi) Withdrawal from a semester after Friday on the seventh
lecture week of the Normal Semester or after Friday on the
second lecture week of the Special Semester is not
allowed except due to reasons of
medical/emergency/student exchange program.
