Applications must be made to the Deputy Vice Chanvellor
concerned through the Dean of the Faculty.
(vii) Application for withdrawal from a semester on
medical/emergency reasons or due to student exchange
programme/Gap Year Leave must be supported by a
medical report issued by a Registered Medical Practitioner
from the University Student Health Clinic/Government
Hospital/University of Malaya Medical Centre/Private
Medical Centre or relevant documentary proof.
(viii) If an application is approved, the course concerned will be
recorded with a grade W1. The student is required to re-
register after the period of withdrawal from a semester.
(ix) If an application is not approved, the student is required to
continue his studies for the course concerned. A student
shall be given a grade F if he does not attend the course,
follow all teaching and learning activities and does not sit
for the examinations at the end of the semester concerned.
(x) A student who stopped attending lectures and did not
follow any of the teaching and learning activities for a
course without withdrawing officially shall be given a grade
F in the student’s official record for the course concerned.
(xi) Withdrawal from a semester for any of the reasons stated
below is not allowed:
(A) Unsatisfactory academic performance for any of the
courses;
(B) Insufficient readiness for the course concerned;
(C) Dissatisfaction towards any of the course.
(xii) Withdrawal from a semester is not allowed once the period
for semester examination has commenced.
(xiii) The details of withdrawal from a semester is as stated in
the table under Regulation 3(2)(b) above.
(c) Withdrawal from the University
(i) “Withdrawal from the University” means withdrawal from
the programme of study currently being undertaken.
